Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, representing Post 76, will play in the American Legion Baseball World Series, starting Friday at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Gaels, 55-11-2, won 10 straight post-season games, including an 11-3 conquest of Louisville, Colo., Monday in the Western Regional finals at Isotope Park in Albuquerque, N.M., to earn the trip to Iowa.

Bishop Gorman, the Nevada state champion, defeated Las Cruces, N.M., 8-6; Kalani, Hawaii, 14-9; Louisville, 7-4; host Albuquerque, 13-10, and Louisville again to claim the regional championship.

Louisville advanced to the finals with a 3-1 record in the double-elimination tournament. The Colorado team defeated Auburn, Calif., 8-7; Albuquerque, 16-4, and Kalani, 10-6, besides bowing to the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman played in the Gold Division of the Southern Nevada American Legion League. Pahrump Valley Post 40 competed for the first time in the Silver Division.
