Teri James and Debbie Robbins enjoyed the trips from their homes in Arizona to win two events each in the Women's Professional Rodeo Association Rodeo, contested Saturday and Sunday in McCullough Arena.

One lady, however, defied the theory that no woman could handle a big and bad bull Saturday.

Tavia Stevenson, from Wheatland, Wyo., rode The Ritz for eight seconds and recorded 71 points. That was the only qualified bull ride in the two days of the rodeo, sponsored by Rocking M Rodeo of Pahrump.

Dee Dee Crawford, from Ben Wheeler, Texas, proved to be too tough to toss in bareback bronc riding both days.

Saturday, Crawford was the only rider to go eight seconds and received 65 points from the judges for her ride aboard Mars. Sunday, Crawford and Chili-Whop teamed up for a 76-point ride, but that was only worth second place.

Vanessa Hodgson of Niles, Mich., scored 78 aboard Wasp to win. Stevenson and Dolly teamed for a 74-point ride to place third.

As for the double winners ...

James, from Payson, won breakaway roping in impressive fashion Saturday, stopping her calf in 6.45 seconds. Sunday, James and Dollie Lautaret of Kingman, Ariz., won team roping in 8.93 seconds.

Robbins, from Winslow, won the tie-down competition on both days; her time under the lights Saturday was 14.84 seconds, while 15.63 prevailed on a warm, windy Sunday afternoon.

At least two more rodeos are scheduled this year at McCullough Arena.

The Wild West Extravaganza is Sept. 22-23-24, with a rough stock rodeo on that agenda.

The Pahrump Fall Festival features a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event each year. The 2006 Festival is Sept. 28-29-30 and Oct. 1.
