Goedhart outpaces opponents for funds

Nevada Assembly District 36 Republican candidate Ed Goedhart reported $45,239 in contributions in the period from Jan. 15 up to Tuesday.

He spent $60,949, according to documents on file with the Nevada Secretary of State's web site.

The biggest contributors to Goedhart's campaign were the Ponderosa Dairy of Downey, Calif., the business he manages, and Eric Goedhart Cattle Company, operated by his brother. Both donated $10,000.

Carrol Ranch, of McArthur, Calif., gave $5,000. Caitlin Enterprises Inc. of Las Vegas gave $2,500, HSLV Development Corp. $2,500, and Silver State Strategies Inc. of Carson City, $2,500. Goedhart collected money from some Pahrump builders including C.R. Homes $1,000, Bulldog Construction $1,000, Spaulding Homes LLC $1,000 and Built Well Development $1,000. Desert Cab Inc. donated $1,000, Monte and Susan Miller, $2,500, Acme Enterprises PAC $2,000, Associated General Contractors $1,500 and the State Sen. Mike McGinness Campaign Fund, $1,000.

During that period, the Goedhart campaign spent $10,136 with High Impact Signs, over $16,000 with the Pahrump organization Nevada Elect, $1,891 with the Pahrump Valley Times, $1,400 with KPVM-TV, $2,305 with the Pahrump Fall Festival magazine and $6,382 with Nevada Special Dees of Pahrump.

Goedhart's opponent in the primary, Ed Higbee, reported $8,047 in contributions and $7,429 in expenses.

Higbee received donations of $1,000 apiece from Jay Bingham of Las Vegas, Bret Whipple of Alamo, and $500 each from Gracian Uhalde of Ely, Western Elite Inc. of Las Vegas, Charlie Brown of Ely, Bill Bunker of Alamo, Mike Cannon of Hiko, Cody Whipple of Las Vegas and Whipple Cattle Co. of Las Vegas. Stuart Twitchell of Erda, Utah donated $1,500. He listed $500 of in-kind contributions from Nye County Commission candidate Pete Liakopoulos.

Democratic Assembly District 36 candidate Harley Kulkin listed $1,520 in contributions and $12,756 in expenses.

Kulkin lists $500 apiece in donations from Jeff Ferguson of Las Vegas and Don Trudeau of Pahrump.

Kulkin spent $1,916 at the Pahrump Valley Times, $1,531 with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, $5,713 with Focal Point Graphics and $959 with Victory Source of Topeka, Kan., as his major expenses.

Democratic candidate Angie Cochran didn't report any contributions or expenses.

Financial disclosure forms for the period of Jan. 15 to Aug. 8 were unavailable on the Nevada Secretary of State's web site for Democratic Candidate Laurayne Murray and Republican candidate John Brown. Murray said she filed her report earlier this week.
