Lieseke collects almost $26,000 in contributions

Former Nye County Sheriff Wade A. Lieseke Jr. raised $25,595 in his campaign for sheriff since Jan. 15, according to campaign expense reports due Tuesday.

According to the available state information, incumbent Sheriff Tony DeMeo didn't file a report by the filing deadline as required by law.

Lieseke's major contributors include $2,500 apiece from the late John McCaw and from his business, Mountain View Recreation Center, as well as $2,500 from Desmoni Plumbing. He collected another $1,000 each from Caitlin Enterprises Inc., Leonard and Alice Rossowick and the Hollis Harris Ranch. He received $5,000 from Yonjie Chen and lists $2,200 in contributions from himself. Mark Schwien of Pahrump donated $2,000.

Sheriff's candidate Robert Holmes lists $7,162 in donations from himself, with no other contributions. Among his $7,162 in expenses are $2,475 to KPVM-TV and $1,154 to an organization called Political USA.

Sheriff's candidate Ray "The Flagman" Mielzynski doesn't list any donations; he paid $5,855 to Diamond Back Silk Screen Printing.

Sheriff's candidate Jeanette Smith didn't report any contributions either; she spent $1,276 without itemizing her expenses.

Sheriff's candidate Mel Jackson lists $9,173 in contributions and $9,696 in expenses. His contributions include $1,000 apiece from Magros Hideaway of Las Vegas, Canyon Creek Development, The Focus Group and Harrah's Casinos. Doug Gobler of Pahrump contributed $2,500. Jackson paid out $2,146 to Focal Point Signs and $753 to an organization called Political Services of Columbus, Ohio.

The two candidates competing for the Republican primary for Nye County Commissioner of District 5 received a combined $23,253 in campaign donations since Jan. 15.

Friends of Pete Liakopoulos reported $16,154 in donations in that period and $25,186 in expenses. Liakopoulos received $2,845 from HSLV, a company associated with developer Hans Seibt. Caitlin Enterprises donated $5,000. The Ponderosa Dairy, managed by Assembly District 36 candidate Ed Goedhart, donated $1,500. John Jasperson contributed $4,500 and Saitta Trudeau $1,500. The names of other contributors on the form include Reme Enterprises of Las Vegas, $1,500 and Casende Ventures, $1,200, both from Focus Group; SL Lincoln PEC from Las Vegas, $1,000, Smaxy PAC $1,000 and Jim Wulfenstein, $500.

Liakopoulos listed $6,803 in expenses to himself for his TV shows. The other major expenses include $6,660 in advertising with The Pahrump Valley Times, $2,500 to the Road to Victory organization and $2,000 for KNYE-FM.

His opponent, Pat Garlough lists $7,099 in contributions and $9,256 in expenses. Her major contributors include HHH Investments, $1,000, part of the Hafen family, Mid-Valley Enterprises, $1,000, Don Trudeau, $1,600, Hollis Harris Realty, $500, attorney Carl Joerger, $500, Acme Enterprises of Las Vegas, $500 and Bob Swadell, $500.

Garlough spent $2,661 on advertising with The Pahrump Valley Times during that time, $1,825 at KPVM-TV, $3,244 with High Impact Signs and $579.66 on in-kind services with incumbent District 5 Commissioner Patricia Cox.

Dan Schinhofen, a non-partisan candidate for District 5, accepted $1,000 from Mid-Valley Enterprises as well as part of his $1,650 in total contributions since Jan. 15. He spent $785 with Nye County Printing.

Public Administrator candidate Halinda Stem reported a $1,100 contribution from sheriff's candidate Mielzynski, which she spent at Freelance Signs and Printing.

Incumbent Justice of the Peace Tina Brisebill reported $4,150 in donations. She spent $4,964 since Jan. 15.

Brisebill received $1,000 from Saitta Trudeau and several contributions from Las Vegas area residents: $1,000 from Patrick McDonald and $500 apiece from Marcus Cooper, David Neely of Henderson and from Nelson and Pearl MacKenna.

J.P. candidate Louis DeCanio didn't report any contributions but spent $3,174 on the campaign, with $1,682 going to Montana Promotional Design.

J.P. candidate Kent Jasperson lists $2,900 in contributions from himself; he spent $2,307 of his $3,198 in expenses with Focal Point Signs.

County Commission District 4 candidate Andrew "Butch" Borasky reported the most contributions of those submitting disclosure forms in that race, with $13,040 collected since Jan. 15 and $9,989 in expenses.

Borasky collected money from various contractors and engineering firms, including $1,000 apiece from Nevada Geo-Tech, Joe's Sanitation, Sun Valley Homes, Laskowski Construction, ASC Excavating, Great Basin Well Drilling, Mid-Valley Enterprises, America West, Saitta-Trudeau, another $1,085 from his own company, $450 from Saddle West Hotel and Casino and $1,600 from Michael Lach.

He lists as expenses $3,057 for Valley Signs, $1,980 for Focal Point signs and $1,103 to the Saddle West Hotel and Casino.

Charlie Anzalone, a Democratic candidate for District 4, doesn't list any contributions and $959 in expenses.

District 4 candidate Mike Maher collected $150 in donations and spent $817.68 on the campaign, including $533.36 with Malek Building Materials.

Nye County Commission District 4 candidates Andrew "Andy" Alberti Jr., Lewis Beaver and Alan Bigelow didn't have campaign expense reports on file with the Nye County clerk's office as required by the Tuesday deadline.
