FISHING REPORT

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Trout fishing continues to be good, with mornings still being the best time for catching fish as monsoonal storms are chasing people off the lake in the afternoons. Spinners, worms and PowerBait have been the most successful.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Fishing for largemouth bass and Crappie continues to be excellent in the mornings and evenings with some crappie up to 11 inches being caught according to Ranger Ben Johnson. Largemouth bass have been caught using top-water lures, while crappie have been caught using multi-colored jigs. Trout fishing has been slow due to high water temperatures.

LAKE MEAD

Hot summer temperatures combined with high winds have contributed to poor fishing in the Overton Arm. Anglers coming in to Overton Beach have been catching largemouth bass and small striper near Stewarts Point and Ann Margaret's Cove.

Echo Bay anglers have had good luck catching both largemouth bass and striper near the tires outside the marina. Largemouth bass are biting near Sandy Cove north of Callville Bay.

Striper fishing at Hemenway point and Special Events Beach has picked up with boils being spotted in the area as the shad have been moving in and out of the coves. Several stripers in the 13 inch range were caught using chrome colored Kastmaster and Krocodile lures at Pumphouse Cove over the weekend.

LAKE MOHAVE

Hot weather is continuing to dampen fishing pressure, reports Martin Olson, a Nevada Department of Wildlife creel clerk. A few anglers were contacted with trout approximately 12 inches in length. No striped bass were seen this week, but with higher temperatures the area was very busy for boaters and jet skiers.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Fishing for largemouth bass at Adams-McGill, Cold Springs and Haymeadow Reservoirs continues to be excellent with bass averaging over ten inches.

Water temperatures have been in the 70's, which is optimal for the bass, but trout fishing has been slow due to the temperatures. Monsoonal rains in the afternoons are helping to keep water temperatures down. Anglers and campers are advised to use caution and seek shelter when storms approach.

The roads within the area are in good condition, as is the campground.

URBAN PONDS

Channel catfish were scheduled to be stocked July 20 in ponds at Floyd Lamb State Park, Lorenzi Park and Sunset Park in Las Vegas, Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City and Hafen Park in Mesquite.
