At dusk Friday, July 28, family and friends said goodbye to the late "Brownie" -- Ronald C. Brown -- at Lake Lebaron in the mountains above Beaver, Utah.

Among those present were his wife, Sarah, their daughter, Deedee, and from Pahrump, Kevin, Wendy, Bud and Carolle.

"It was decided the most appropriate method of ash dispersal must be spectacular and dramatic to suit his spirit," said Carolle Hepburn. "We used a cannon."

His ashes, all six pounds of them, were propelled from the cannon's mouth in two blasts.

"A few minutes after the second shot," wrote Hepburn later, "a gentle rain began, bringing Brownie to his final resting place(s)."
