The Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association summer tournament season ends Aug. 7-8 with the annual Gene Goins Memorial, to be played at the Lakeview Executive course. Tee-time both days is 3 p.m.

The entry fees are $5 for each nine-hole round, $10 for each 18-hole round. Players 7-8 and 9-11 will play nine holes each day. Boys and girls 12-14 and 15-18 will play 18 holes each round.

Gene Goins was one of the major movers and shakers in the early days of the junior golf program in the valley. Larry Goins and his wife, Elaine, are the tournament co-directors.

Boys and girls who completed the 2006 junior golf clinic are eligible to compete in this tournament, which ends the summer season.

The 2006-2007 season starts Sept. 9 at noon, with a tournament at the Executive course. Subsequent tournaments are Oct. 7, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Jan. 6, Feb. 3, March 3, April 21 and May 5. The 2007 clinic will be held June 11-12-13, with times and site to be announced.

Summer 2007 tournaments are scheduled June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16 and July 23. The 2007 Goins tourney is July 30-31.

A PVJGA tournament, played Monday at the Executive, attracted 29 players.
