Dr. Walter Hoppe, medical director at the Pahrump Medical Center for St. Rose Dominican Hospital 1995-1996, and most recently medical director and family physician at Desert Trails Medical, is today fighting bone cancer.
Following his move to Winnemucca, when Desert Trails Medical changed ownership, Hoppe gave little attention to a pesky "backache."
One month later, when he noticed a decreased energy level and weight loss, he scheduled an appointment with another family physician. Laboratory tests confirmed the bone cancer diagnosis. Hoppe is on leave as he undergoes therapy.
