LETTER: Racial profiling

I read with disgust the most recent of J.C. Watts' racist columns entitled "Democrats lost in poverty, iron." It appears that the main focus of his bi-monthly columns is strictly racial. I, for one, am sick and tired of such statements and wonder why the PVT allows him the space to spew his message.

In his short article the following seven references to race appeared:

• The candidacy of a black Republican candidate weaken his appeal to black voters

• Small and minority-owned business

• A Republican American of African descent

• Democrats have a black man of their own

• White Anglo Saxon Protestant Republicans

• The fourth black U.S. senator

This is a continuing pattern with this writer. It matters not that he happens to be black. This is not the focus of my complaint. Anyone reading this column, as well as the majority of his previous ones, can see that he has but one agenda. Imagine if all the racial references were reversed. What would your readers think of it then?

There is no sense in trying to curtail the writing style or subject matter of this columnist. He writes as he writes. That is his privilege if he finds a willing audience for his blatant racial agenda, but why does it have to be we Pahrumpians that are chosen to be his audience?
