LAS VEGAS - The Pac-10 Conference has extended its commitment to play in the Las Vegas Bowl through 2009, officials announced.

The agreement will have the fourth-place Pac-10 finisher play in 2006 and 2008, while the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco gets the Pac-10 fifth-place finisher. In 2007 and 2009, the two bowls will reverse the order.

For the past four years, the Las Vegas Bowl automatically hosted the Pac-10s fifth-place team.

In the last year of the current contract, this year's Las Vegas Bowl will pit the No. 5 Pac-10 finisher against a Mountain West Conference representative. It is scheduled Dec. 22 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas and will be televised by ESPN.

The Las Vegas Bowl, begun in 1992, has drawn the No. 2 selection from the Mountain West Conference since 1999.

Wyoming defeated UCLA last year, 24-21.
