Pahrump woman thanks rescuers for their heroics

By BARBARA TUCKER

I work at Royalty Farms, the miniature horse ranch involved in the fire on May 27. I was alone that day as the owners, De & Doug Reul were out of town.

This writing is my personal thanks to all of you that disregarded your own personal safety to help me in the most terrifying ordeal I have ever been through.

I know some of you, but many were strangers. All of you were like "angels from heaven" that came to help out of the goodness of your hearts, and I will never forget you or your efforts, along with all of you that called to check in and offer your help.

Thanks to a Nye County deputy (I am so sorry I don't know your name - but you know who you are!) and Dave from Done Rite Automotive, my good friend Carl Simmons was saved, while the rest of the Done Rite employees helped to fight the fire and man the front gates to keep horses from escaping.

Dr. Gerry Henseler, my friend, you are always there when I need you! Ron and Patti from Shadow Mountain Feed, along with employee Nick Osmond who brought badly needed pipe corrals (and set them up!) as well as water and refreshments, Joe of Magic Meadow Miniatures for all the help with the frantic horses, Patti Babcock for bringing over desperately needed supplies, Wanda and Kama Morris and friend Jim Anderson (bless you for help with the dogs!), and especially to my husband Rodney for coming to my rescue, staying by my side as always and lending his support and help for the next 72 hours. And to Marion at the Mobil Station for sending my better half to the rescue when hearing of the fire on her scanner!

Last, but certainly not least, to all of the Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue paramedics, deputies, BLM firefighters (you stayed with me throughout the night and the next day), you were all amazing working under the worst of circumstances with the fire and weather, combined with a tragic auto accident. My prayers (go out) to the family that lost their loved ones in the accident along with the injured firefighter.

Unfortunately, our pet pig "Petunia" (bless her little soul) was lost in the fire.

But thanks to all of your unselfish efforts, the life of an 86-year-old man, 57 horses, two goats, one pig, two cats and nine dogs were saved. It could not have been accomplished without all of you.

My apologies if I have forgotten to mention anyone, but trust in the fact that all of you and your efforts will never be forgotten.

God bless everyone.
