Time to get into the swim of things

PVT

The heat is on, and the Pahrump Community Swimming Pool will soon open its doors to patrons looking for somewhere wet and cool to hang out.

The pool opens Saturday to Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. From Tuesday until June 10, the schedule will be shortened during the week from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The weekend schedule will remain the same.

On June 11, the swim schedule will be as follows for the entire season:

• 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Senior lap/swim

• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Open swim

• 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Lessons

• 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Open swim

The weekend schedule is noon to 6 p.m. of open swim.

Pool passes are available for the pool season, which runs until Labor Day. Single passes are $50, and family passes are $100. A family is considered parents or grandparents and their minor children, or grandchildren.

Daily fees are also available for 75-cents for children 5 and under, $1.75 for children ages 6 through 12, $2.25 for children over the age of 12, $1.75 for seniors and 50-cents for non-swimming adults.

Swim lessons can be taken at the pool for $35 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. The schedule for lessons will be posted June 1. Registration for classes will start the Monday before swim lessons.

Eighteen lifeguards started training May 18. However, more lifeguards are needed and the application date will reopen next week.
