Nye commissioners approve lumberyard
Nye County commissioners approved a conforming zone change and conditional use permit for a lumberyard to go in on east Dandelion and Bride streets in a residential neighborhood just south of Highway 160, east of Malibou Avenue.

Controlled burn moratorium begins June 3

Beatty could go from mining gold to wind

Nugget bowling alley grand opening set for early June
The Pahrump Nugget has announced the grand opening of its 24-lane bowling alley and video arcade for children. The event will take place at noon on June 3.

Commission holds a special meeting Thursday morning
The Nye County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a special teleconference meeting for Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in Pahrump and Tonopah. The Pahrump meeting will be in the commissioners' offices at 250 N. Highway 160.

Fire at public nuisance threatens school
Fire broke out again Sunday in a building that served as a laundry, apartment, and shop for the abandoned trailer park adjacent to the Beatty Elementary and Middle School. This was the second fire on the property in the last three or four months. The previous fire was in one of the empty mobile homes.

High gas prices won't slow summer travelers
Despite the fact the Silver State has some of the highest gas prices in the country, nearly 250,000 Nevadans plan to hit the road this Memorial Day weekend, according to the latest report from AAA Nevada.
