Resident arrested for meth trafficking, pot possession
By BREANNE HUBBARD On Monday, deputies J.H. Chandler and Harry Williams noticed a motorcycle driving westbound on Mesquite Avenue at approximately 7:40 p.m. with no license. The deputies conducted a traffic stop. According to the police report, the driver, Raymond Bunting, 44, got off the motorcycle and spoke with Williams, while handing his driver's license to Chandler. Police said Bunting admitted to not having registration for his vehicle. According to the report, Williams conducted a body search on Bunting, where he found marijuana and meth in Bunting's right front pocket. Chandler said the weight of marijuana was approximately one ounce. Bunting was placed under arrest at that time. Deputy Eric Murphy arrived on scene to transport Bunting to the Nye County Detention Center. Deputies took $524 from Bunting's wallet as evidence. Chandler said he and Williams went to Bunting's house on Mesquite to speak with his wife. At the residence, police said, Bunting's wife invited them inside the home. Immediately, Chandler said, he noticed a glass pipe popular for meth use in plain view. The item was taken as evidence. The deputies also said they found a police scanner and video surveillance for the outside of the residence. Police claim they asked Bunting's wife where the rest of the drugs were and she led them to the master bedroom of the home, reached under the bed, and pulled out a box containing marijuana, a marijuana pipe and drug paraphernalia. Deputies said that on the bed was another box filled with three lines of meth, a snorting straw, mirror and razor blade. Upon further investigation, Chandler said he found two more containers with drug paraphernalia under the bed. One allegedly contained four baggies of meth weighing 12 grams, a scale and numerous zip lock baggies. Deputies took all items as evidence. Chandler said he found another glass pipe on the floor of the living room, which was also taken as evidence. Bunting has been charged with possession of meth with the intent to sell, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, trafficking meth, unregistered vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail has been set at $34,536. |
