LETTER: Gall bladder
His endeavors to fancy himself a constitutional scholar really put me at bay. I must say that he does have gall. He interprets the Constitution without the full knowledge of its intentions. I wonder if he has any inkling of the three-fifths rule or even the purpose of the 10th Amendment. Too often the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are used, or should I say misused, as though they were two parts of one document. Not true! The (Declaration of Independence) is only a statement of intentions and complaints; the second one is the enforceable one. Otherwise, we would be having revolutions every time a group took it upon itself to overthrow the government (yes, there are those who would attempt a coup). He misleads readers regarding the interpretation of the document. He uses it to condemn the Democrats, and no less, he really thinks he is a Republican. Now, that's gall! For if he really understood the politics of the day, he would really know that the NeoCons have distorted the party line. There is no distinction between NeoCons and the big spenders of yore. You know, the dubious big spenders of the New Deal, the Fair Deal and all the other dealers. This distinction is that the welfare state is still the welfare state. The big difference is that rather than monies going to help the very poorest, the polarity switched and now the very rich are the beneficiaries of government spending. What happened to free enterprise? Has it found its demise? Oh, Adam Smith, where are you now? You did predict the taking over of the government by the lobbyists - I mean those of any consequence (the biggies). But, my dear friend, this is not the literary matter of your concern. You should be helping this town with some exposés of manipulations and corruptions that cost us high taxes with no results. Believe me, you would be serving a much higher cause than what you serve now: yourself! I tell you, there's much more here than anywhere else. You have detritus, sledge, rot and much more. Go to it, tiger. As for the commissioners of Tuesday night, Feb. 15, you have seen the sleaze factor at work and we the people, thank you, the commissioners, for seeing through the Kare Group sleaze. But, remember, they'll be back. CHARLIE ANZALONE |
