Private service for Revert

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BEATTY - A private funeral service is scheduled for Robert A. Revert, a former Nevada assemblyman, sheriff's deputy and business owner who died April 20. He was 85.

Revert, a Democrat, served during much of the 1950s and into the early 1960s as a state assemblyman. He was speaker pro tem during the 1959 Legislature.

"My dad had a lot of integrity," said Revert's daughter, Elaine Richardson. "I think he always wanted to try and help people. He loved being in the middle of things."

Revert's family moved to Beatty when he was a boy. His father and grandfather had emigrated from France to Virginia City in 1874.

In Beatty, the Reverts bought the local water and power companies and the Beatty Ranch, which they still own.

Revert attended the University of Nevada, Reno, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
