Two locals nabbed for meth sales

PVT

The narcotics taskforce in Nye County, with the help of a deputy, arrested two local residents who allegedly have been trafficking and selling methamphetamine in town.

Nick Gainey, 38, and Akaisha White, 20, were arrested April 22 and each charged with three counts of trafficking methamphetamine, three counts of the sale of meth, three counts of conspiracy and two counts of maintaining a place for drug sales.

According to the police report, the SCORPION narcotics taskforce conducted three controlled trafficking level meth buys in February from both suspects.

Authorities claim a local motel room was used during two of the buys, as well as for other narcotic deals.

On April 22, deputy James Chandler pulled over Gainey and White during a traffic stop. The report states Chandler contacted detectives Trevor Meade and John Powell and found both detectives had probable cause to arrest the passengers of the vehicle. Chandler then made the arrest.

Both suspects were taken to the Nye County Detention Center. Gainey and White's bail have been set at $79,000 each.

The police report also stated the local hotel, which hasn't been named, didn't have any involvement or knowledge in the drug dealings.
