Earth Day poster contest under way in time for April 23 event

PVT

In conjunction with international Earth Day, the Pahrump Nuclear Waste and Environmental Advisory Board, along with Albertson's, are sponsoring an Earth Day grocery bag poster contest for children.

All applicants must be in pre-school through high school. Posters with an environmental message should be drawn or painted on grocery bags.

This year's grand prize is a basketball hoop, valued at more than $200, donated by Albertson's. Prizes will also be given to winners in four age groups. Children can pick up bags and entry forms at their school's office, Albertson's, or at Pahrump's Earth Day Celebration April 23 at Honeysuckle Park.

Entries can be dropped off at the school's office, or at the Earth Day Celebration. Bags will be displayed at the event and used to bag groceries at Albertson's at a later date.

The Nuclear Waste Advisory Board is also having a contest for adults this year. Categories are art made from trash or junk, practical objects made from trash or junk, and original poems or songs with an environmental message. Entries will also be accepted at the Earth Day Celebration.
