Beatty takes care of housekeeping issues
By RICHARD STEPHENS The board approved paying the California Polytechnic State University Foundation $2,851.78 for research done on the Beatty Habitat Committee. They also approved paying Rose Roofing up to $1,000 to repair leaks in the community center roof. The company, hired by the county, is already coming to Beatty to do work on the library, and it was felt it would save money to have workers do the repairs while they are here. Following the suggestion of secretary Mary Ball, the board voted to request a second town vehicle to be purchased with up to $25,000 of PETT money, with the town chipping in $5,000. Ball said that when the present vehicle is taken out of town or is being repaired, whoever is on call is left without a vehicle. She also said that it needed to have four-wheel drive (because it is used to access the town TV and radio translators). The board voted to write another letter to the district attorney's office requesting that the resolution be written regarding certain nuisance properties in Beatty. This request was originally made more than a year ago. Ball told the board that Deputy District Attorney Erik Levin did not initially remember whether he had written the resolution, but then told her he would have to write a separate resolution for each of the two remaining cases. He told her that he would do so, but John Bass said he thought the board should write the letter anyway, and send it with a return receipt requested. Brad Hunt invited the board to attend the Beatty General Improvement District meeting Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. Representatives of the proposed Hollywood Stunt Man Hall of Fame museum are to be on hand to make a presentation. |
