Edna ScheppmannEdna Mae Scheppmann our precious wife, mother and grandma was called home Aug. 11, 2004. She was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Alton, Iowa. Edna is survived by her husband, Eugene Scheppmann; sons, Mark, Brad and Curtis; daughter, Kimberly Friedman, all of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Jeremy, Erin, Darryl, Ryan, Steven, Brittany, Jared and Justin; sister, Caroline Phelan of Ephraim, Utah; and brothers, Jay Hodapp of Las Vegas and Edward Hodapp of Temecula, Calif. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Clara Hodapp; brothers, Michael Corday and Billy Hodapp; and sister, Clarice Theobald. As newlyweds, Edna moved to Las Vegas in 1954 with husband, Gene, and over the last 50 years they raised their family together. Edna was the manager of the Desert Inn Beauty Salon for 22 years, and owner and founder of Big Olaf of Nevada. Edna will be most remembered for the love and support given to her immediate family as well as to her extended families in Las Vegas and the Sunset Mobile Home Park community in Pahrump. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Aug. 18 at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A celebration of life reception to follow at Las Vegas National Golf Course, Club House. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119. 08/11/04 Ivy Dixon Ivy Owen Dixon, 67, of Pahrump, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 14, 2004. He was born July 30, 1937, outside Toro, La., and resided in Las Vegas from 1962-2000. After serving his country as a member of the U.S. Army, Ivy was a secondary school teacher with the Clark County School District from 1962 to 1993. Ivy was an active member of C.C.C.T.A., N.S.E.A. and N.E.A. throughout his thirty year career, and served in a variety of positions, including two terms as the Nevada representative to the N.E.A. Resolutions Committee. He is survived by his wife, Gail Dixon of Pahrump; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Dixon of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Diane Snyder and Judy Bailey, both of Pahrump; sisters, Faye Knight of Ocala, Fla.; Kathleen Carey of Lewisville, Texas, Kathlyn Hyerstay of St. Louis and Duretha McCardel of Bay Saint Louis, Miss.; brother, J.L. Dixon of Ardmore, Okla.; and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to the building fund of Saved By Grace Lutheran Church, 2270 Red Rock Drive, Pahrump, NV 89048. Services were held Aug. 17. Palm Mortuary-Jones handled the arrangements. 08/14/04 James Bigsby Services for James Lee Bigsby, 14, who died Aug. 14 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Aug. 18) at the Neptune Society of Nye County chapel, 720 Buol Lane, Pahrump. He was born Aug. 12, 1990 in Hillsboro, Ore., and moved to Pahrump in June coming from Oregon. He was a student that competed and won medals in the Special Olympics who loved basketball, animals, biking and Spiderman. His mother, Cheryl Bigsby; father, Kelvin Bigsby, and brother Jason Lynn Bigsby, all of Pahrump, survive him. Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. 08/14/04 Leo Sullivan Services for Leo Sullivan, 74, who died Aug. 12 in Las Vegas, were held Aug. 17 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. He was born June 3, 1930 in Boston and was a 36-year resident of Pahrump coming from Tucson, Ariz. He worked as a heating and air conditioning specialist with the government. He was president of the Pima County chapter of APEA and chairman of the Pima County Democratic Party. He was a Catholic. His wife, Marie Sullivan, of Pahrump; and sons Kenneth Allen Johnson and James Darrel, of Arizona, survive him. Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. 08/12/04 Eugene Rosan Eugene R. "Gene" Rosan, 72, died Aug. 14 in Pahrump. He was born June 12, 1932 in Detroit. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1955 where he had an outstanding career and earned several medals. Until his wife Irene Brooker Rosan's death in 1985, the couple traveled throughout the United States. He worked for Pahrump Valley Taxi until March and was a member of the American Legion, Post 2 in Dover, Del., the Nevada Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Association of Retired People, the Air Force Sergeants Association and was a lifetime member of the Retired Enlisted Association and the National Association for Uniformed Services. His son Eugene R. "Chip" (Margie) of Dover; daughter Dale C. Schuenemann, of Pahrump; stepson Larry M. Hughes, of Felton, Del.; sisters Lirinda (Noel) Grigery, of Herculaneum, Mo., and Diane M. Truscott, of Fairless Hills, Penn.; brother Daniel D. Rosan of Summit, Ark.; grandsons Paul P. (Leslie) Hitchcock, of Titusville, Fla., Michal R. (Shanna) Rosan of Chicopee, Mass., and Christopher J. (Erin) Rosan, of Hartly, Del.; and great grandchildren Dalton and Alexandria Hitchcock; nieces Susie Lipe, Dinane Dugger, Christina Slotterback, Linda Hilliard; and nephews Doug Gregery and Mark Hilliard. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 19 at his home, 3301 Maple Road in Pahrump. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 1440 E. Calvada, Ste. 1000. Bunker Mortuary in Las Vegas handled the arrangements. 08/14/04 Esther DeGraff Private family services were held for Esther Grace DeGraff, 87, who died Aug. 9 in Las Vegas. She was born July 12, 1917 in Utah and worked as an executive secretary. Her daughter, Janet Deaver, of Pahrump; son John DeGraff, of Missouri; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive her.
