Moore's movie nothing short of terrorism

BOB LITTLE
MORE COLUMNS

Now that the 9/11 Commission has released its final report, it appears more than a few large slices of humble pie need to be served, and not just to the demagogues of the progressive ultra left.

For the first time in recent memory a government commission performed its task with pain-staking precision and an active concerted effort to only review and relay the facts of the given situation. The co-chairmen of the commission even relayed that whenever members might get off track and consider any finger pointing, the mantra of stick-to-the-facts was recited until the weakness was overcome.

But what now for all those who have now been shown to be less than forthright about their claims and charges during the process? You know many of the culprits by name, some even by face.

First of all there is Joseph Wilson. Remember him? For those who may have forgotten, he was the one who claimed President Bush lied about Saddam Hussein's quest for yellowcake uranium in Niger. This was of course used to no end by the radical left as another lie by the administration in order to go to war in Iraq. All of his charges have now been proved false.

Anyone hear that part?

Second in line would be the former intelligence analyst and doers of deeds unknown, Richard Clarke. On more than one occasion, Mr. Clarke demeaned himself and the country by making charges concerning inaction by the current administration the 9/11 Commission has now put to rest. The really sad part of his story is the American people will have to pay for his errors for years to come, if in no other way than his exorbitant retirement income.

But one name stands out more than any other, and his web of lies is weaving its way slowing through the fabric of our society. His name is Michael Moore, and his lies are as dangerous to our nation as any other terrorist act we have incurred or can anticipate.

So you might have an understanding of where his mind is, here are a couple of recent quotes he has used to describe our country and its citizens.

"We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don't know about anything that's happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing. They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet," he told Britain's Mirror newspaper.

He must have been speaking about all those people who paid good money to see his "documentary" that has just had its basis for production totally disputed by the 9/11 Commission. As it turns out, his plot of a secret alliance between President Bush and the House of Saud has been totally debunked.

Not only did President Bush not orchestrate the evacuation of Saudi families, including members of the Osama Bin Laden family prior to opening of the airports for general traffic, it has now been shown "factually" the President was not even made aware of the movement. The entire action was approved by none other than Richard Clarke after the FBI conduced interviews with the people allowed to leave.

So exactly when is a documentary not one? Perhaps when it is a work of fiction. Anyone think Michael Moore will give back his French inspired Cannes Film Festival Award for lying to the judges? There was a time when I wondered if this man's hypocrisy knew any bounds. But his devotion to making money answers that one quickly.

"That's why we're smiling all the time. You can see us coming down the street. You know, 'Hey! Hi! How's it going?' We've got that big [expletive deleted] grin on our face all the time because our brains aren't loaded down." After I read this quote I had to giggle, remembering a recent head to toe photo of him.

These are just the insults to you and me as citizens of this great country.

What he says about our nation should shock you, but that would depend on when you graduated from high school.

"We, the United States of America, are culpable in committing so many acts of terror and bloodshed that we had better get a clue about the culture of violence in which we have been active participants." More than any other quote, this demonstrated his total lack of understanding and education in the realm of history. No nation on earth has freed more people, defended more nations, at a greater cost than ours. And these are facts that can be proven, not unfounded assertions based upon utter hatred.

But the most chilling of all the quotes this man has made demonstrated the problem facing this country and its leadership as we pursue World War III, the war on terror. The enemy in this knows nothing about the Geneva Convention, has no national borders than those of their willing accomplices, is willing to slaughter non-combatants on a whim and has no interest in negotiating anything less than our abject surrender to their domination.

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the Revolution, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow and they will win.'"

If this was merely ranting from a lone lunatic it could be dismissed as mindless prattle. Sadly, this type of thinking dominates media coverage of the war on a daily basis and undermines the basis of support for our efforts to fight the war on terrorism around the world.

The progressive left wing of many who claim to be patriots would also have us leave the battlefield before the end of the fight. This was what they convinced President Clinton to do after our black hawk went down. Our withdrawal then emboldened our enemies to attack again and again, each time with greater ferocity.

Hopefully the conclusions of the 9/11 Commission will help us not make the same mistake again.
