Davies new VEA board president

PVT

Bob Davies, who represents District 1 (Pahrump/Sandy Valley/Mountain Springs) Valley Electric Association (VEA) members, was recently chosen president of the VEA board of directors.

Before this, Davies was the VEA board's secretary, and for a time before that was also its vice president. VEA District 1 members first elected him to the nonprofit electric cooperative's board of directors in 2001. He was chosen president by unanimous vote of the three other VEA directors. They include: Shiela Rau of District 2 (Amargosa Valley/Ash Meadows), Bobby Revert of District 3 (Beatty/Sarcobatus Flat), and Bob Hartman of District 4 (Lida/Gold Point/Fish Lake Valley).

Hartman, who was the VEA board president, is the board's new vice president, and is currently in his ninth two-year term on the VEA board of directors. Rau is secretary of the newly reorganized board, and Revert is its treasurer.

"VEA's directors are a seasoned, knowledgeable board, capable of dealing with the issues it will be faced with this year including: assuring strict cost controls, entering into a long-term power supply contract, resolution of the Enron dispute, and an effective working relationship with VEA's new general manager Brad Gaskill," says Davies.
