Southern cross country regionals

The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association Class 2-A, 3-A and 4-A Southern Regional boys and girls cross country championships will be contested today at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.

The schedule:

Today

•Coaches meeting at 8:30 a.m.

•Class 2-A Southern League Boys at 9 a.m.

•Class 3-A Southern League Boys at 9:40 a.m.

•Class 4-A Sunset Region Boys at 10:20 a.m.

•Class 4-A Sunrise Region Boys at 11 a.m.

•Boys awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m.

•Class 2-A Southern League Girls at noon

•Class 3-A Southern League Girls at 12:40 p.m.

•Class 4-A Sunset Region Girls at 1:20 p.m.

•Class 4-A Sunrise Region Girls at 2 p.m.

•Girls awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

Veterans Memorial Park is located at 1000 Airport Road in Boulder City. After entering Boulder City (from Las Vegas) turn right on Buchanan at the second stoplight and drive two miles to the park.

Team Qualifiers

2-A Southern League Boys and Girls - The top three teams out of the league race qualify for the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association State Cross Country Championships (presented by the Las Vegas Review-Journal), Nov. 8 at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.

3-A Southern League Boys and Girls - The top two teams out of the league race qualify for state.

4-A Sunrise Region Boys and Girls - The top two teams out of the region race will go to the state meet.

4-A Sunset Region Boys and Girls - The top two teams out of the region race will go to Reno.

Individual Qualifiers

2-A Boys and Girls - The top five individuals from non-qualifying teams out of the league championship race advance to the state meet.

3-A Boys and Girls - The top three individuals from non-qualifying teams out of the league championship race advance to the state meet.

4-A Boys and Girls - The top five individuals from non-qualifying teams out of each region championship race advance to the state meet.
