Over the objections of an Irene Street property owner, Nye County Commissioners voted 5-0 Thursday to proceed with the street's paving and realignment project and nix the proposed easement agreement with the county.Irene St. paving plan OK'dLandowner objects to proposal putting road by fenceThe goal is to complete paving on Irene from Highway 160 to Barney. At issue was property owner Elisa Couch's objection to a recent proposal by commissioners to scale back the existing plan from its present 28-foot width to measure 24-feet with a slight deviation in the street upon completion. Couch was also asking the county to replace a section of the property's original three-strand barb wire fencing with a more expensive chain link fence, two additional encroachments and more money for her estimated .61 acres than the county originally offered.
