Hit and run kills PV pedestrian

A Pahrump man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking along Quail Run just west of Barney early Sunday morning, and another Pahrump man is in custody.

Kenneth R. Buttke, 55, has been charged with hit and run accident with death and manslaughter. Bail was set at $35,000, and he was still in custody as of Monday.

According to Nye County Undersheriff Bill Weldon, James Langle, 39, had left Our Bar on Bell Vista at approximately 3:30 a.m. He is believed to have been walking home and headed east when he was struck by the car driven by Buttke, who also had been at Our Bar.

A motorist spotted Langle's body and notified the Nye County Sheriff's Office at 6:30 a.m. Weldon said investigators traced the victim's activities back to Our Bar, compiled a list of others who had been there, and had Buttke in custody by 10 a.m.
